B-DAY February - 3

1) PPH: Where is home ??
DS: Costa Mesa, California

2) PPH: How long have you been shooting ??
DS: Since 2003

3) PPH: What camera gear do you use / and what's your favorite lens ??
DS: Canon 1D MkIII and the 5D. My favorite lens is the 50 1.2 ... although I shot recently with the 50 1.0 and although it was a little slower focus, it was butter.

4) PPH: Do you have a memorable wedding photography moment ??
DS: I've got loads. My worst was when I was shooting with David Jay and Tim Halberg and they played a trick on me and tipped over my Apple Display... or at least I thought they did. They tipped the box it was in from about 5 feet high. I dove for it... literally... and then the box was empty. They took pictures the whole time. They were dying. I still haven't forgiven them. Man, they got me good.

5) PPH: First car? Today's car? What do you want in the future ??
DS: 1983 Toyota Celica blue hatchback... it was sweet. Now: Vespa :) Future: I'd like a helicopter.

6)PPH: Is there anyone else in the "biz" you enjoy shooting with? why? who would you like to shoot with ??
DS: Mike Colon and David Jay (except when he's messing with me) are two of my favorites.

7) PPH: Where would you like to shoot that you haven't yet ??
DS: I haven't shot in Italy before and would love to.

8) PPH: Where would be your dream " desti " location ??
DS: Banff

9) PPH: What good tips can you give to a photographer starting off today ??
DS: I know of a really cool book they should read :)...

10) PPH: What is the one approach / step that took your studio to where it is today ??
DS: When I stopped comparing myself to others and discovered what I uniquely brought to the table. That changed everything.

PPH: In your words any great projects / workshop / seminars / dvds / in the works ??
DS: I'd be spending a lot of time at photographymentor.com and the [b] school. Those places are breaking brand new ground that I'm pretty stoked on.
